Poul Volther Corona Chair
By HRH Rowena YID with PrimaDonna YID
Poul M. Volther (1923-2001) was an architect who had started as trained cabinet-maker. He later graduated from The School of Arts and Crafts and taught at The Danish School of Art and Design.
The Corona chair is his most famous design. Designed in 1961 and introduced in 1964, both the elliptical design of the chair and its name were inspired by a time-lapse photograph of a solar eclipse.
The chair has been popular with visual artists since its debut and has appeared in television, film, music videos, and fashion features. It was also the official chair used in 2002 at the Chiefs of State meeting at the EU summit in Copenhagen.

omg Yoville is wonderful for design features. We have an Egg chair by Arne Jacobsen,
50′s sofa by Robin Day, Globe chair by Eoro Aarnio, Salvador Dali lip sofa,
Lucienne Day 50′s carpet design, George Nelson star clock, Eero Aarnio Pastilli Gyro chair, and Jerry O’Mahony diner stools, tables, booths and counters complete with formica tops. I could go on and on. It’s why I love Yoville.
Wait, Bluezz, those are coming! I wrote about all of those in upcoming installments! –
I love to arrange and buy furniture for my apt on Yoville. I only wish I could put some pieces at an angle. This is soooooo much fun!
